      <image:title>Home - Hi, I’m Naureen</image:title>
<image:caption>I’m a neurodivergent dietitian, clinical supervisor, and international speaker with over two decades of experience—and a parent to two neurodivergent children. I founded RDs for Neurodiversity after witnessing how traditional feeding and nutrition systems were failing neurodivergent people, and I felt called to build a community committed to doing better. In 2023, I was honoured to receive ASAN’s Nothing About Us Without Us Award in recognition of my work advancing affirming, justice-oriented care.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Meet the founder - Hi there,</image:title>
<image:caption>I’m Naureen, founder of RDs for Neurodiversity and a neurodivergent registered dietitian with 18 years of experience. In my private practice, I treat children and families struggling with a variety of feeding challenges through a trauma-informed, weight-inclusive and anti-oppressive approach. I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent people and have had the privilege of sharing my knowledge and expertise at national and international conferences. I have also had the honour of developing courses and training for healthcare professionals, teachers, and therapists.</image:caption>

<image:title>Meet the founder - Food brought me here</image:title>
<image:caption>Food has always been a huge part of my life. I come from a family that celebrates food. But my views around food and eating changed the day I encountered eating difficulties with my children. As a neurodivergent adult and the mother of two neurodivergent children, I have had to learn how to navigate our differences in a cultural construct that values and caters to the neurotypical individual and family. Very few professionals have been able to affirm our identities as humans.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Neurodiversity Affirming Model® - The Neurodiversity Affirming Model®</image:title>
<image:caption>The Neurodiversity Affirming Model® is a framework based on inclusion and acceptance. It is an anti-oppressive methodology that is informed by social justice education, such as disability justice, disability studies, neurodiversity studies, Mad studies, critical autism studies and fat studies. It was developed to intervene against the current oppressive models that center individualism and are inherently fatphobic, ableist and sanist. It challenges the medical model of disability, neuronormativity and pathological paradigm that currently pervades and anchors education and practice in dietetics and the mental health field. It recognizes that neurodivergent people are essential to our society and deserve respectful and affirming care. It is trauma-informed and acknowledges that there is natural variation in human cognitive function. It rejects the idea that neurodivergent people need “fixing and positions neurodivergent people as the experts in neurodiversity. It recognizes that to fight for collective liberation and promote healing, we must dismantle systems of oppression that impact those who are neurodivergent and marginalized. A neurodivergent-affirming approach offers access to liberating reframing while still attending to needs such as access to accommodations as well as providing practical tools that are needed.</image:caption>

<image:title>Adult Course: Neurodivergence, Feeding Differences and ARFID - Neurodivergence, Feeding Differences and ARFID</image:title>
<image:caption>Research demonstrates that the prevalence of feeding differences and eating disorders, including ARFID, is higher in neurodivergent people than in the rest of the population. This co-occurrence has been linked to several factors, including trauma, burnout, masking, sensory processing differences, executive functioning differences and anxiety, just to name a few. Even though eating challenges are common in neurodivergent people, many of us did not receive adequate education and training needed to offer neurodivergent-affirming care. Understanding how neurodivergence impacts our clients' abilities to nourish themselves adequately is essential to providing affirming care. 7 x 2-hour live sessions, approved for 15 CPEUs by the CDR Bonus module with guest speaker Kris Scover, RD (they/them) Bonus recorded session with Shira Collings on Depathologizing ARFID All sessions are delivered live and will be recorded Extended one-year access</image:caption>
